Well l think thats what l'll call it. I've filled a notepad with notes, sketches, calculations and a few tears of frustration. I do think l finally have a workable pattern using 8ply wool.
Making test swatches of different ribbing to see which are the smallest at rest was a life saver. Getting the waist ribbing to body ribbing to look good was painful. I really wanted the body to be a 2x4 rib, but no matter how l increased, it looked tacky.
Tried a 2x5 rib for the body, but that meant a 1x3 rib for the waist. Looked ok, but not as small at rest as a 2x2.
Arghhh, had to go to a 2x7 rib for the body for it to look good and have the right amount of size difference (rest & stretched) in the waist.
So frustrating, l have a clear picture in my mind of how l want this to look and fit. Getting that on paper and into a workable pattern is taking much longer than l anticipated.
I hope transferring the whole idea to 12 ply will be easy. The nappy l'm making the cover to fit is a one size night nappy. 12 ply would be a better for a night soaker.
I've been looking at Bendigo wool mills 12 ply for the night soakers. Also looking at a 12ply organic wool for babes with skin sensitivity. They of course will cost a lot more to make.
The nappies are white, so l will get a cream colour wool.
So many plans, so little time!
I finished my crop cardi. Still havn't washed and blocked it. Will wait for the weather to clear so it dries quicker.
My wrap cardi is coming along very slowly. I'm losing interest as its more a winter weight. I will finish before next winter.
I'm ready to cast on another project, will it be Green gable or Ms Marigold? Juliet is what l want to start, but still deciding on yarn. Should l buy some BWM 16ply or Cotton fleece? Perhaps l should knit my way through at least some of my stash before buying more. I really am running out of places to stash it.
I bought myself more Addis for my birthday. I have to find new cases to store them in. It really is nice to have all the sizes and lengths that l need. Is need the right word for 36 Addis?
