ok so it took 40 mins to cast on 47 stitches, but l did it!
I have hardly any grip strength yet, that will take up to 6 months to be normal ( l'm aiming for a lot less).
Because l knit continential and into the back of the stitch, l can knit without moving my left hand. How cool is that!
I can lift a full coffee cup, pull my pants and socks on and do up buttons. Turning a door knob, pegging washing and tying my shoe laces are still too hard. I don't have pain unless l try to grip too hard, or grip and twist my wrist.
Had the dressing changed yesterday, the wound is healing really well, palm of my hand is black and purple.
My mum left yesterday, she was here for 4 days to help with the kids, mostly driving. It was wonderful to have help, also really good to say goodbye.
We have different ideas on what l should try to do. Me if it hurts-don't do it. Her- don't do anything.
Best part of her being here was to see that she is a fantastic grand parent. Caring, fun, interacts with the kids, able to be calm when they are naughty or having a tantrum.
So different to the mother l knew.
