where a little growth used to be. Now you can all stop giggling and keep your Tasmanian jokes to yourself...
Dr B is not only our family GP, he is also a wonderful surgeon. Today he started work an hour early so he could remove the 'thing'.
The Thing is/was a hard lump on my scalp that has been there for years. In early March l noticed it had turned black, saw a different GP who gave me a referral for to see skin specialists. Those are in short supply in regional Australia, so rather than wait for my late July appointment, l went to see Dr B.
He decided that as it would have to be removed anyway, he may as well do it in his rooms as soon as possible.
That of course was today.
The black area had enlarged 25% in the last 2 weeks, so he removed a bit extra around the original lump. Area removed was 1.5cm wide and 2 cm long tapering at the ends. Scalp wounds bleed a lot, so it was straight home for a shower, after l had been wiped down so as not to freak out anyone in the waiting room.
Stitches come out in a week, not sure when the pathology results will be back. I am very confident that it is nothing to worry about. So worry l will not.
